What’s one woman’s Chess Pond will be the next woman’s Knight and shining armorer. Real Talk

A Facebook friend. Sweet baby Jesus, we need to teach these grown men to read.

Although, this is true - one woman’s Pawn is another woman’s Knight.  Pawns are grossly undervalued and considered by the novice to be expendable. They are generally called upon to defend when other pieces haphazardly thrown into battle, but do not receive the same protection in return.  Pawns are always pushing forward and, if not captured by the bigger players in the game, are rewarded for their diligence by transformation…usually to a Queen (see who often plays the Pawn role?), but the most strategic of plays (thank you, Coaches Nick & Clarence) is sometimes when that Pawn has been a Knight-in-waiting.

Knights are the sexy pieces to me.  They’re wildly supportive of the Queen, allowing her to flex her strengths but always ready to stealthily defend.  They are also quick to enter battle (as quick as the pawn), but smart enough to stay out of direct harm.  A Knight is the only piece who can directly challenge the Queen without being in the path of her ire. Hmm…interesting. But we’re all in the game to defend the King, right?

The game teaches us that when the king falls the game is over. When actual the game is lost when the queen is taken. The most versatile piece n the game. Its hard to win when your heart isn’t there.
